Terrible Instructions

Pros: looks nice
Cons: terrible generic instructions, difficult to install, motor makes the wah wah wah sound
"The diagrams do not match the parts provided, I had several bags of bolts that weren't mentioned in the instructions and was getting pretty frustrated. So, I called the company directly and spoke with one of their engineers who admitted they provide generic instructions that apply to many different models they manufacture. The final issue is the motor makes this wah, wah, wah sound as the blades rotate. Can't sleep because of it so we are returning it to Costco."

Light bulbs are a pain

Pros: looks great
Cons: chandelier bulbs required.
"This fan looks great, of course installation of light fixtures is always somewhat complicated but I had to laugh when reading the instructions it says "take your white wire and your blue wire..." and we had a white wire and a black wire..
My main issue with this product is that it requires 3 40watt max chandelier bulbs. Well it's impossible to find an environmentally friendly chandelier bulb that has enough light to light up my kitchen, which is where this fan was installed. The 9 watt chandelier cfl is not nearly bright enough to light up the area i've installed it in.

Worst Customer Service from Canarm

Pros: costco refund policy
Cons: canarm customer service, canarm packaging
"I will never buy a Canarm product ever again. I bought this fan and upon opening the package noticed the glass shade was cracked. This most likely happened in transit and is completely understandable.
Rather that take the heavy product back to Costco, I contacted Canarm directly and they asked that I email them the receipts and shipping info to them and they had would send a new glass immediately.
It's been two weeks and they still havent sent a glass after I just followed up with them. They're playing pure ignorance that they didnt get attachments in the email I sent. Why couldnt they just provide a fax number and I would've easily faxed it to them. Worst customer service ever. Can't imagine how Canarm would behave if something had to be done under warranty."

horrible install, NO flush mount!

Cons: arduous install, hangs too low for 8' ceiling
"Horrible instructions and NO flush mount capability. Hangs way too low for a normal 8 foot ceiling (ie, makes the room look very small hanging so low and blades are uncomfortably close to the bed). Have taken this fan back."

great deal!

Pros: great quality for the price!
Cons: ????
"The fan arrived the next day! We had an electrician put it together and install it, so I did not have to deal with putting it together myself (definitely looked way too complicated to attempt!) Now that it is up on the ceiling, it looks awesome and fits nicely in our rather big bedroom. It is quiet too. Our electrician hooked it up to a dimmer switch that controls both the fan and the light. Nice touch! Well worth it!!!"

NIce when it's up but OH what a pain to install

Pros: quiet once installed
Cons: horrible assembly instruction translation., teeny weeny itty bitty screws., fan blades arrived nicked and marred << cheap., fan speed chain catches.
"I only wish we had the other reviewers on hand, to install the fan for us :)
The assembly instruction translation is absolutely HORRIBLE. The instructions MUST have been written, at a factory, where English is not their first language. An English editor should review and correct.
The diagrams are even worse than the written instructions. They show screws as bolts and visa versa. They also label/name the same part in several different ways.
"Lady fingers" are required when installing screws.
The fan speed chain goes down through a housing, through a glass shade, brushing against a light bulb and then out through another metal housing. As such, the chain catches in several different places, making it hard to adjust the fan speed
It took some time (and sheer stubbornness) to get this installed but now that it is up and working, we won't be returning it.
Unless you have time on your hands and the patience of Job, we also would not recommend."

Love these in our bedroom

Pros: quiet, great air flow
"We bought three of these for our huge master bedroom. The first one took a bit to install because it was different from other ceiling fans we have installed in the past, but the last two went up nicely afterwards. We got the pewter finished ones, and they look very nice. They are very smooth running, and run quietly. They move a lot of air. The other day, it was in the mid-30s with the humidex and I felt cool enough with the fans going, in the afternoon, to want to cover up with the blankets!"

Love the shade!!

Pros: great value
Cons: none so far
"I got the oil-rubbed bronze model, and once put together, it looks wonderful. I love the amberish tea-stained looking shade on the unit. It looks more expensive than what it cost me, for sure. Oh, remember to hang onto the pull strings when you string them through the lamp shade. I let it slip and it got stuck somehow in the unit.. Took me a while to get it out!"
