A Little Disappointing But Useable

"This product does not have the same degree of sensitivity all the way around it. Consider it like a compass with the North and South poles being the most sensitive and the East and West poles the least sensitive. The North South will activate a light at about 12 feet and the East West at about 4 feet. The sides which are the most sensitive are identified by a small arrow on each side located on the top of the unit so you have to have a two or three step ladder to actually see them to get the unit optimally pointed for the best sensitivity. That's not a very good design in my opinion and considering the cost they should be a lot more sensitive than that when turning on a light. I bought a4 pack of night lights with a flashlight on a motion sensor built into them from Costco for under $20 that had a range of about twenty feet to activate the flashlight so I'm not impressed with the range of these units. That said' considering First Alert sells these online for $42.95 for one fixture the two pack at Costco's price is a great value."

Genius idea

"Love the bulb socket!
Used both of them at the basement staircase, exactly what I wanted! Now will buy bright red Philips light bulbs and it will look great aesthetically.
Wish they came up with a regulator, as 4 minutes feel like an eternity when u no longer need the light.
As for the installation, all the other similar models at your regular stores only offer the one that you need to play with wires at the light switch. This one, on the other hand, only being screwed at the socket, easy and fast. Love them so much, tempting to buy more.
Thank you for offering this product!"

Does exactly what I wanted it for!!

Pros: can use fluorescent or candescent bulbs, comes as a 2 pack., installation is as easy as screwing in a bulb!!
"It is so nice to come in the porch at night and into the storage room and not have to grope around...usually when you're hands are already full....for the light switch."

Didn't work for me

"My garage has one switch for the inside & outdoor garage lights, so I thought I could put the socket on the indoor bulb & kill two birds with one stone. Unfortunately, although the lights turn on and off when my car leaves the garage, it stays on all night once my car is in the garage. The motion detector is also somehow a heat detector, and the heat from my car is enough to throw off the 4 minute interval. My garage is unheated, so I'm guessing if the space were evenly heated, it would work. I tested the same socket in a storage room & it worked as promised."

We love it!!!

"It just screwed right into where the light bulb goes, and now we don't even have to think about whether we turned off the garage light or not. It is not the prettiest thing for the ceiling (some of my friends thought it's a surveillance camera!), but we already had just a bulb hanging off the garage ceiling to begin with, so we think it looks good. My husband and I love it!"
