Very nice product - but had to return

Pros: great quality, great price, costco return policy makes costco.ca best
Cons: doesn't accomodate register duct
"I bought this product and had to return it as it could not accomomodate the rectangular style ducting the builder put in.
I considered removing the rectangular duct, cutting the hole to fit and extending the 6" round piping down to the unit, unfortunately the "chimney" cover wasn't wide enough to cover the hole that would have been left by the removal of the rectangular style duct.
I did, however, plug it in and test the sound and functions and was very impressed.
Beautifully built, very high quality and worth every penny.
For those with the same rectangular ducts, the Acona Trina will accomodate you.
I will buy the Trina.

Great product, great price

"Bought this hood fan to go over our Bluestar gas range, and got the matching Ancona stainless backsplash. Looks fabulous, and pulls all the cooking odours out of our open-plan house really well. The price is amazing compared to hood fans with similar specs from other appliance brands."

Great Price and looks great

Pros: price
Cons: manual is not that great.
"We re-did our kitchen and this was the other Ancona product we purchased.
We also got the farm sink oh and the undermount lights.
This is a bit noisier than I was wanting, but it moves the steam/air well.
The chimney lined up fine.
I would use a flex duct next time. Did a c vent that wasn't very easy to work with. We never had a vent in this area before, so we started with a new roof vent too.
I wish I could post a picture to show how our kitchen turned out!

Good value

Pros: price, quality of stainless, power, lighting is bright
Cons: noisy if left with flaps, manual is terrible, final assembly imperfect, always turns on to max for 1 sec
"Overall the fan is a good product, however there are some issues that need to be corrected to make it great.
1- the lip on the top of the fan where the chimney connects is not properly aligned out of the box, unscrewing the 4 screws slightly and repositioning it helps with chimney alignment.
2- the baffle flaps in the chimney are extremely noisy. the metal is flimsy and rattles constantly. so i cut them off (while keeping the housing) and instead bought an in-line baffle at a hardware store (different quiet design which seals better) and installed it up higher along the stack. this reduced the fan noise to only air noise.
3- avoid using the drywall anchors if possible, building a wood support structure in the wall before putting up the drywall is much better. use flooring screws.
4- manual is terrible, use your common sense instead.
5- fan always turns on to max for 1sec before slowing down to min when you turn it on. i have no solution for that annoyance."

Good price, good looks

"The metal finish is nice, it is easy to hang the fan hood on the wall. The two sliding chimney pieces would not line up correctly or stay straight. I had to add two piece of wood on the wall that would push on the inside of the chimney to hold it in line because the metal was not stiff enough to stay straight.
The fan works well but it is quite loud, even at the slow speed.

Does the job

Pros: price
Cons: poor customer support poor manual
"Good choice for the price; fan is loud, but not bad for the amount of air moved; timer is a nice option. Chimney is poorly fitted, but for the price difference of the competitors still happy with it."

Amazing Value

Pros: excellent product
Cons: none yet
"I've had this now for 4 months installed and love it. The buttons light up in blue LEDs and look modern. We have 9 foot ceilings and it installed no problem with its telescopic design. I'm not sure what the other reviewer is talking about it being too short, unless they are trying to hang it way too low, or can’t figure out how to extend the chimney. It’s pretty simple actually. Hanging it was not too difficult either, almost like hanging a picture. I took my time to make sure it was perfectly centred. Customer service was outstanding. One of the grills came bent, I emailed their customer service, and within 2 days, they sent replacement. The fan is powerful yet, refreshingly not that loud given the amount of air it moves. Amazing value for those who actually do cook and fry foods and want the air to be exhausted out quickly."

Great purchase.

"Shopped around for a range hood for weeks until I stopped my choice on this one. Wasn't too sure on what I would get considering that the cost is much lower than other similar range hoods. Received the range hood about 4 days later and was very pleased with the look. After installing it, I am glad to say that it works greats. I would definetely recommend this item."

Looks good but low quality.

Pros: cheap
Cons: poor customer support, poorly built, noisy, the high cfm may require make up air. added cost, in testing all lights started flashing
"I ordered this fan for our new home. It arrived and there were issues with the chimney. We have 9 foot ceilings and the chimney was too short by 3 inches.
My wife called Ancona and requested an extended chimney cover and asked the size. The customer service rep said the size was 10 feet. Huh?
So then I called the next day. Same answer the extended piece is 10 feet. "That is impossible! What is the actual dimensions of the extension piece? " Same answer, she said it was 10 feet. She said a technician would contact me.
Well after 4 more calls and 34 days later no return call.
This is where Costco is the best company ever. Rather than dealing with this useless company, I took it back to Costco and they gladly refunded all my money.
I now have a very quiet, very reliable Vent-A-Hood."
