Pros: easy to install, durable

"Bought this unit when it first came out, wasn't sure how long it will last. But two winters later and it is still very sensitive and operates without any flaw. Highly recommended!"

Creative lighting source in many areas

"This light system is a very favorable product for the quality and service given by the unit are not lacking. Various ways to set it up and coverage and motion as well and when or when not the lights come on make this system a top choice for our needs. Can be used anywhere almost where nice lighting would be beneficial in any needs there may be.
Thank-You!

This product is a joke

Pros: this might work well in a very confined space, better than nothing if you have no electricity
Cons: range adjustments are very limited, the lights are not very bright, sensor adjustment does not move far enough
"I would not recommend this product to anyone. If you have electricity at the site you need to illuminate and you want to be able to see well, I suggest you use an old fashoned hard wired unit. I will be replacing this thing with such a unit ASAP. Waste of money and time."

Not very good over time

Pros: bright light
Cons: didn't last long
"I purchased four of these lights about 18 months ago. Only two of them are still working. I originally liked the lights because they were very bright. But they didn't last long."

needs work

Pros: good all around light easy to setup
Cons: doesn't work in winter, solar panel leaked in rain, motion sensor needs more vertical adjustment
"worked well the first summer, provides a nice light, not overwhelming at all. Doesn't work in winter, second year the solar panel leaked water and doesn't work at all."

incorrect battery detail

Pros: provides lots of light
Cons: battery description is wrong
"The product arrived by ups unbelievably fast, ordered on sunday arrived on tues morning!. Well packaged with very good instructions, appears to be manufactured with my idea of good quality (subjective, i know). I installed it as per instructions in my covered wood shed. It functions very well and lights up a 16' by 21' shed with lots of light. the motion sensor can be set easily and functions well. The only detail that was wrong is the battery description on the Cosctco website it says "7V, 3Ah battery" when in fact the product comes with a 7.4V, 1.5Ah battery. It seems the 3Ah battery is an available battery which can be ordered seperately. So far I've had the light installed for about 3 weeks and it has worked flawlessly despite the battery issue. Lastly I enjoy purchasing from Costco because they have an excellent return policy. But for now this light is an excellent product and hopefully it lasts for a few years."

Good idea, but design problems

Pros: nice design
Cons: design problems
"PROS:
- GREAT looking product design.
- LED, which means bright without much electricity.
- VERY easy to install.
- Lamp head has excellent two-action swivel for any direction or angle (in theory - see below).
CONS:
Solar panel swivel is much more limited. There's one angle it can't turn to at all - happens to be the angle I needed. It should have the exact same swivel mount as the lamp-head has!
- Same complaint about the motion sensor. It swivels left and right, but down only 30 degrees. If you mount it at a narrow passage between a house and hedge, but keep the unit high enough that a tall intruder can't just reach up and switch it off, it can't sense down there. It should have a swivel like the lamp head!
- When mounted on a flat wall, the lamp head can only pivot about 45 degrees left or right, because of its width. The bracket should have a lean to it, to leave the lamp head more swing room free of the wall.
- The solar recharge cord is a bit too short. I have a modest bungalow (32x32 roof), and the 15' cord can't get from my north corner to the roof apex (for clear sunshine).
I should add that, out of the box last night, it didn't work. I'm hoping it's just in need of a charge. I installed it at sunset. After install, even at max sensitivity, it wouldn't turn on unless I was up the ladder waving from one foot in front of it. Will try to update this after a few more test nights."

excellent shed light

Pros: easy installation
Cons: none to date
"I purchased this LED light online and it arrived the next day. Great shipping service.
Installed the light inside my garden shed and mounted solar panel on the roof edge. It has been in place for about a month and is working exactly as expected.
The 45 LEDs are sufficient to light the entire shed, and the sensor turns light on whenever I enter shed and the light is required.
I am very happy with this light and have already recommended it to one of my friends."

DOA

"Bought online. Arrived very quickly. On/Off switch broken. Light flickers constantly. LED's light up with different brightnes.Unusable.
What a waste of time to return it now. Very poor quality control. I really don't think it broke in transit.

Innovative Lighting

Pros: easy installation
Cons: plastic mounts, doesn't fit a round pole well, throw screws away that come with it
"I was excited to purchase this light as I live in the country and wanted a driveway light I didn't have to wire in. Installation went well, the set-up is still being fine-tuned. The light will come on at the oddest times, not sure if it is critters or what. Battery seems to be able to hold a charge in the cold provided it gets lots of sun the day before. Ball on solar panel needs a locking screw as it is loose. Description is not quite correct as you can not adjust for ambient light level only sensitivity on sensor and time light stays on (which is no where near correct 3 min = 5 to 10 min)"

not recommended

Pros: great idea
Cons: poor quality
"I bought 2 of those on march 2010.
Installed one in my driveway, lighting is great, but motion sensor doesn't work so light stays on as soon as it is dark outside then eventually run out so when I do get home it is off. 2nd one is in the backyard, worked for 2 weeks now it won't charge so this one doesn't work at all. I threw the box away so not sure costco will take those back. Anyway quality seems inconsistent as some people seem to have great working units and others not. I say stay away, or keep your receipt and packaging for return.

Disappointed

Pros: bright if it works
Cons: faulty lights and sensor
"Purchased it at Costco online last April 15, 2010 and got it on the 19th. Was very impressed by Costco's delivery system. Soonafter I got it out of the box, I noticed that one row of lights did not function properly. Sensor was also not working properly. Called the product support guy (Not Costco but the manfacturer), he got my name and address and contact details but then soonafter he got my personal info he asked me to return it to Costco. I was not happy with the support that I got. Why he got all my contact info, I do not know."

Didn't work well for me

"Seems to be well made but battery power lasted less than 30 minutes after charging for 3 days.
I suspect there was an issue with my particular unit and returned for refund."

Withstands Manitoba Coldest Winter Nights...Great!

Pros: quick & easy to install!
Cons: none as yet!
"Purchased this light in Oct. 2009...mounted it on our garage to light the sidewalk from the rear entry door of the garage to the back door of the house...Was VERY pleased with the amount of light this unit produced..the LED's are exceptionally bright!..we've recently had windchills in the upper minus 40's, and it worked just as well as it did in the warmer weather!
Was quick and easy to install, was trying to think of where I could put another.....
No one will be disappointed with this purchase!!"

Better than the home improvement box store's!

Pros: bright light, no wiring required
"I was really disappointed by another solar security light that I had recently purchased in a big box store and saw this one on Costco's site.
Since I know Costco generally only stocks quality items, I thought I would give it a try.
Great! This one actually has light that shines into the yard and is able to function as a security light.
Thanks to Costco for doing your (and my) shopping!

Good deal

"You could mount it almost anywhere outside of the house and be a good security light without any wiring. I used for 6months and the battery still charge very well.
It only have 4 stars due to the motion sensing could not rotate to lower angle.

Best Solar Light Ever!

Pros: very bright, good construction
"This thing is great! The Light will entirely light up a 12x12 room bright enough to read. The light is fully articulatable and has quite a wide range of motion. The motion sensor as well rotates (like a ball in a ball joint) and also has a wide angle of adjustment (both horizontally and vertically) The unit also has good rubber weather sealing on the cable connection from the solar panel to the main body housing. It also charged quickly in one afternoon of moderate sunlight.
You could definitly use this as a full kitchen or main room emergency light (if you can mount the solar panel in a bright window).
I havn't had a chance to test this through -40 degree winter or a massive downpour yet, but so far I can highly recommended this unit."
